Wonderland
Look upon the looking glass and stare death in the eye.
The clock is
ticking and the world’s amiss. All you see are dreary black
roses with daggers
as thorns and pot-smoking caterpillars. Run little
rabbit, run, Father Time is
tugging at your furry, little tail.
Everything’s a blur in Wonderland. Nothing is what it seems. Tear away its false reputation as a Disney classic and you’ll end up with something quite shocking. Wonderland is but a name; an advertising scam, so to speak. In reality there is nothing adorable to see. Shrewd and scheming little animals use their cuddly appearance to lure naïve little boys and girls into their lair, their so called Wonderland. Once they’re in it there is no turning back. What about Alice, you ask? Don’t be fooled by the magicians’ tricks, because, more often than not, these are just illusions. ‘Alice’ is but a figment of the imagination. You have all been fooled. At last, the Joker gets the last laugh.
Wonderland, enticing as it may sound, is an underground world of sin and hopelessness. As you enter let the darkness carry you as you fall. If you ever reach the ground, beware. Be quick on your feet and never stop running. If a rabbit and an old man in a goofy hat invite you to tea a party I suggest you decline and go on your way. A tea party of a perverted, old ‘mad hatter’ and his pet is not an event you’d want to be in. As you run along the twisted, dark pathways always avoid those heart shaped treats you see scattered on the ground. You don’t want to get addicted to it. It has its side effects.
Though there are a lot of things to be cautious about in Wonderland there is but one entity you must strictly stay away from: the ‘cat’ in a striped suit. Once you listen to its haunting yet lustful, deep voice it will never leave you. You’ll have nightmares while you’re awake and death whilst you sleep. Impossible, you say? Nothing is impossible in Wonderland.
Wonderland is a mysterious place indeed. As much as I’d like to stay and discuss the endless, unexplained misconceptions of the ‘Wonderland’ that has already been embedded in our minds I have to leave for I have a job to do. So, to you I say farewell, for I now have to go to work and put on my purple, striped suit.
